An old farmer died and left 17 cows to his three sons. In his will, the he stated that his oldest son should get 1/2, his middle son should get 1/3, and his youngest son should get 1/9 of all the cows.

The sons, who did not want to end up with half cows, sat for days trying to figure out how many cows each of them should get. But they were not able find the solution.

So they approached a wise man and told their problem. After thinking for a while, wise man gave the solution.  So what was the wise man’s solution?

    totally we have 17 cows,
    oldest son=(1/2)*17=8.5=9
    middle son=(1/3)*17=5.66=6
    youngest son=(1/9)*17=1.88=2
    The logic behind this after point the number is 5 or more than 5,we will consider as 1.The same followed here,
    So 9+6+2=17
    17=17
    Hence the problem is solved.

    let assume there is 18 cow. now oldest son get 1/2*18=9,middle one get 1/3*18=6,younger one get 1/9*18=2,so by adding we get 9+6+2=17.so in this way 17 cow is distributed…
